10/07/2014 - Hot weather Continues at League on and Off the Track

The hot weather continued at the Brooks Cycles Track League on Thursday 10^th July 2014 at the Lyme Valley Velodrome, Newcastle under Lyme, Staffs with another full nights racing with 78 riders competing.

In the A Class endurance events Matt Walls ( Velocity RT/WD40) dominating the events for the second week as he won all four races in taking the 10 lap scratch, devil, points race and 10 mile. Joe Swinnerton ( Lyme RC) had a good night as he scored 6 points with one second place and two third places.

The Sprint events saw the continued battle between Sean Mayer ( Swinnerton Cycles) and Tom Rotherham ( Sportcity Velo). On this week Sean scored slightly higher by one point with his best wins coming in the 500m handicap league event and the sprint final where both times Tom was close behind in second.

The B Class races saw a good night for league leader Andy Jackson ( Moda RT) who won the 8 lap scratch and the devil. Phil Booth ( Weaver Valley CC) won the points and a great ride by Paige Millward( Bike Pure) saw her win the fast 10 mile scratch.

In the youth races Caleb Hill ( Lyme RC) won the 6 lap scratch and the devil to close on overall Leader Alastair Kennington ( Lyme RC ) who was away this week. Joel Ackers ( Eastlands Velo) won the opening block handicap.

The Freewheeler league saw a big turnout with all riders beating or close to their personal bests in the 200m time trial that starts the events which shows what progress these young riders are making at the league and through the various training sessions throughout the week. The top point’s scorers were as follows ;
