The latest round of the Brooks Cycles Track League took place on Thursday 2^nd June 2016 under bright sunny skies however the cold breeze kept the temperatures down. With its being half term and the Tour Series in nearby Hanley the numbers were slightly down however there was excellent racing at the Lyme Valley Velodrome.

The night started with the Freewheelers League with 15 riders taking part. All 10 races were keenly contested and the top point’s scorers on the night were as follows;

Group 1 Thomas Wheaver Lyme RC 9 points

Group 2 Daniel Jones Lyme RC 11 Points

Group 3 Harley Johns Newcastle RC 2001 11 points

In the Sprinters League Joel Partington ( Swinnerton Cycles ) had a great night as he won the latest round of the Keiren League and was also a member of the winning team sprint team with teammates Sean Mayer and Barney Swinnerton.

In the combined A and B races Ben Hardwick ( swinnerton Cycles ) won every event apart from the final 30 lap scratch which was won by Joel Partington as he and ben lapped the field. Paul Jones ( Ellmore FRT ) had a good night as he took second place in the 30 lap scratch, win and out, 10 lap scratch and the devil.

The C Class events saw Andrew Bonnett ( Uttoxeter CC) win the devil and Win and Out races.

In the youth races Joel Ackers ( Sportcity Velo ) dominated the nights racing winning the block handicap, devil and scratch as well as being a member of the team sprint winning team. Special mention goes to Adam Mitchell ( Eastlands Velo ) who crashed in the devil and has a suspected broken collarbone. All at Newcastle Track wish him a speedy recovery.
