15/05/2008 - Declan Steps Up in Style

American rider Giovarni Ray flew in to the country on a business trip from San Francisco and decided to ride the Brooks Cycles Track League during his stay. After adjusting to the pace of the racing in the first race he then went on to win the Brooks H?cap Round Two event by half a length and then add the course de primes and the final 10 mile scratch event to his tally later in the meeting. The Handicap event saw a blanket finish with the judges really having their work cut out as eight riders were virtually in a line as they crossed the finishing line.

With A Class League leader Kian Emadi not riding, Steven Hill won four points to take over at the top of the overall league table. Special mention should also go to Declan Byrne, Brooks Cycles who has stepped up to the A League and he showed he was not overawed by the opposition to gain a fine second place in the opening 8 lap scratch race.

With Byrne moving on the B League was a more open affair however comeback rider Tom Powell took over his mantle as he won two events.

The youth events saw a good spread of the points with top scorer being Sassan Emadi who is the current league leader.

The Freewheelers League saw 19 riders compete with special mention going to first time riders Holly Mulroy and Harrison Barber who are both only 5 years of age. Both did superbly in winning one event each in Group 3. Top points scorers in each group were as follows, Group 1 Alex, Group 2 Sally Birchall and in Group 3 Alastair Harrison
